The Shadow of the Almighty – Calvary Temple VA

We live in a world that is plagued by sin, disease, violence, and sorrow. The perfect world that God created has been perverted and twisted because of Adam’s sin.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott shares with us that though we war and struggle with circumstances, God is greater than all of our needs.

The Bible is full of Scriptures that tell of the Lord’s protection and safety in difficult times. “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress…” “The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe…”

Where do you turn in times of difficulty? When you stumble and sin, whom do you call? When your child is sick or there is no food for them, where do you place your trust?

Do we believe that we are in the hands of God? Do we believe that His ways are higher than ours? Let us learn today to trust Him. Let us learn to abide in Him, and in the shadow of His wings.

Bless the Lord – Calvary Temple VA

Are you thankful today for God has given you? Are you thankful in everything? Are you thankful for everything?

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott reminds us what it means to “bless the Lord at all times.”

If our trust is in God in everything that He does and in everything that comes our way, we can then be thankful. Truly, the Lord is at work in all things, working for our good. Though we often don’t understand, and we would have scripted circumstances differently, the Great God is at work – in all things and for our good.

One thing that trust and praise work in us is contentment. If we believe that God is working all things for the absolute best in our lives, then we can see His sufficiency in everything that we have. And in everything that we don’t have.

We believe that the secret to a thankful heart is a contentment in God’s ordering our lives. He purchased us from a lifetime of bondage and an eternity of torment. Doesn’t that make it a bit easier to believe that He is good all the time?

Bless the Lord!

Fuel for Evangelism – Calvary Temple VA

There are many times when we as Christians forget that we have a mission here on earth. We forget that there is more to life than the new birth and awaiting the time when we will see Jesus face to face.

In brief, we are to endeavor to grow into the image of Christ, and to make Him known to all around us. Though simple, it is our life-long goal and pursuit.

In the midst of daily trials, we often forget our need to reach out to others. Doesn’t it often seem that we can barely keep up with our own spiritual walk?

When we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, we learn to take His yoke upon us. We realize that we cannot maintain a Christian life without daily submitting to Him, allowing Him to live His life through us. We begin to take our eyes off of ourselves, and then we realize that our new birth is but a gateway to making Him known to others.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott stirs us to remember what a great work has begun in us. When we fully realize our forgiveness, we become free to go and share with others what we have witnessed and experienced. That becomes impetus and the power for us to reach the lost.

Let this video move you. Spend time in the Lord’s presence. Remember what He has done for you, give Him His praise, and then go tell somebody!

All Things Are Possible – Calvary Temple VA

Our God is big. Real big! He can do anything. There is nothing impossible for Him.

Now, do we really believe that? Do we believe that He can and will do what He has promised?

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott challenges us – to believe God, to obey God, and to change our perspective on how we view circumstances.

Many people say that they believe that God can do anything, but it isn’t always His will to answer our prayers. We do believe that God is sovereign, and that His wisdom is far above ours. Here is our question to you – do you base your belief in God on your past failures? Or maybe on the doctrines of men who have explained away much of God’s power?

Look at the Word of God. Allow it to begin to transform your mind. Let the Word of God be the basis for your belief. Step out in faith and believe God!

Pastor Star R. Scott – Powerful Witnesses – Calvary Temple VA

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott begins with a very provoking question – “When we are out sharing with people the resurrection of Jesus, are we also providing resurrection power in evidence?”

Wow! That really goes to the heart of the gospel. As the Apostle Paul shared, his gospel was not just in word, but was also in demonstration. In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised that we would be endued with power from the Holy Spirit through His baptism. He told the disciples that this power would enable them to be witnesses unto Him.

How confident are we in the power of the Holy Spirit within us? Do we possess Him in doctrine only? Do we believe that He will express the resurrected Jesus through us?

For many years, Pentecostal believers have had the baptism with the Holy Spirit as a great part of their identity. We truly believe in this “subsequent grace” being available to all believers. However, do we let Him work through us? Do we trust that He will empower us daily to walk in lives of holiness and power?

Let us take stock of what we believe, and also of what we live. Trust the Lord today to fill you once again. Believe that He will empower you for His work and for His glory.

“Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…”

Pastor Star R. Scott – Cessation is Not Biblical – Calvary Temple VA

Sometimes we need to step back and ask ourselves – “Why do I believe what I believe?” Is what you believe about God and the Bible based on how you grew up? Is it based on what your parents believe? Maybe what you believe is based on your own experience?

If you are a Pentecostal believer, why do you believe in the “baptism”, the infilling with God’s Holy Spirit? Is it because the Scriptures have shown you? Is it just because of what you’ve heard a teacher say?

If you are a Cessationist, why do you believe that the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit through the lives of believers has ceased? Is it because you see it clearly in the Bible? Is it because of what you have heard Bible teachers declare?

We are a ministry that believes that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever as it concerns the Holy Spirit working in our lives. We believe that when Peter said the Promise of the Holy Spirit is even to “all that are afar off”, it includes the Church 2000 years later. We believe that the Scriptures are very clear in this. We believe that the Lord calls His Church to move in the same power that gave it birth on the Day of Pentecost.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott reminds us of the heritage of the Church and what is available to us today by God’s Holy Spirit.

Pastor Star R. Scott – The Danger of Wealth – Calvary Temple VA

“In God We Trust”

Do we? As a nation, we have this slogan on our coins, yet it has become just another social issue on which to differ.

As Christians, we want to believe that we do trust in God. He has saved us from our sins; He is working His will in our lives; our steps are ordered of the Lord. Yet do we trust in God?

America is the wealthiest nation in the world. Our abundance has done much to erode our trust in God for our “daily bread.” We have insurance policies, credit cards, and pantries filled with food. And not all of these things are wrong. What we have to determine is whether or not we put our trust in them.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott asks us what we would do if everything was taken away from us. We would love to all say that we would still have our faith in God. But how much time do we spend meditating on what we perceive as needs? How much trust do we have for the political system and our right to challenge national issues?

Where do we place our trust? God is working in us whatever He sees as necessary to bring us to a greater faith in Him.
