The Substitutionary Work – Calvary Temple VA

From the beginning to the end, the Bible tells a great story – man, created in the image of God, rebelled and was condemned to an eternity of separation from God. But the story continues – God so loved mankind that He sent His Son into the world to take the penalty for man’s sins.

Can there be a better story than this? Interwoven through the Bible, we see these continual themes – man wanders away from God because of the sinfulness in his flesh, and God reaches out to man to draw him closer to Himself.

The message of the gospel is so simple, yet the majority of mankind rejects it message. Through the sin of Adam, every man innately desires to govern his own life. What is not realized is that Adam sold himself and all future generations to a life of captivity – to satan, to his own sinful flesh, and to the consequences of a world that is under sin’s curse.

We have hope today. God is rich in love. He is longsuffering and full of mercy. As man continues to pursue his own desires, God reaches out to pull him toward the free gift of salvation.

Those of us who have received this free gift are aware of the Lord’s goodness and kindness. We have tasted of the riches of His grace.

As God’s children, we are to continually share with others about the hope of salvation. We have freely received new life; let us proclaim it from the housetops!

The Redemption of God – Calvary Temple VA

We firmly believe that we are in the last days, and that we will see Jesus return soon for the rapture of His Church.

The Bible says that in the last days, lawlessness will increase. We see that fulfilled more and more each day.

Another indication of Jesus’ soon return has to do with the teaching and understanding of the Bible, specifically in churches.

What do you hear from church teachers concerning sin and the salvation of Man? Much of what is being taught is centered on man, not on the true miracle of regeneration. Many teach the gospel from the point of view that man is inherently good, that because of Adam he has been doomed, but that redemption gives mankind back the right to all of the goodness that the earth has to offer.

As you can tell from the previous paragraph, there is some good and some bad in much of today’s teaching. God truly is love. He created man perfect and His own image. Then Adam rebelled against God and brought sin into the world. We will not be judged for Adam’s sin. We have all sinned, and we need a Savior. Man is not basically good. Man is depraved and will be judged for his own sin.

When the subject of man’s sin is weakened, God’s plan of redemption is cheapened. Man becomes the focal point, rather than seeing God as the Author of salvation through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott tells us of our need to give the true gospel message when we go to reach the lost. He reminds us of man’s sinful nature and God’s love and kindness towards us.

Listen to this video, and then start to meditate on what God has done in you through your own regeneration. Begin to be touched with the Lord’s heart toward sinners. Go and tell them of His great love for them.

The Redemption of God – Calvary Temple VA

This Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip was taken from Pastor Scott’s teaching entitled, “Redeemed.”

In this video, Pastor Scott points to mankind’s need for God to intervene in their lives. He makes a very good distinction between a redeemed, regenerated person and those who have not bowed their knee to the Lordship of Jesus.

How do you see your life? How do see God’s plan to redeem mankind back to Himself? How much have you given to humanistic thought regarding redemption? There is very much humanistic belief and teaching concerning how a person is reconciled to God. Humanism believes that man is basically good, and through his own efforts can change his or her own life.

Pastor Scott shares with us very clearly what is the state of the ungodly. He reminds us of man’s total depravity and of God’s great love.

As you watch this video clip, trust that the Lord will give you His heart for those who are lost. Allow Him to teach you His will and to give you a burden for those who are opposed to His Lordship.

Have Faith in God – Calvary Temple Sterling VA

As Christians, one important topic for us to hold onto is the subject of faith. (“For by grace are you saved through faith…” “Without faith it is impossible to please God…)

For the last 40 years, much of the church has focused on the subject of faith. The word “faith” has inspired movements, has become the foundation of ministries, and has found its way into countless church names.

Jesus said, “Have faith in God.”

Where is our faith today? Do we have faith in God? In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott helps us to see faith in its proper perspective. He reminds us that our faith is to be in God – in His person, in His Word, in His purposes in our lives.

If our faith is in God, then we don’t have to comprehend how He works in our lives. We trust Him through any circumstance and every situation. God is good in all things, and at all times.

In one very important quote in this clip, Pastor Scott shares with us that we “need to be as excited about God’s sovereign will as we are about His revealed will and His manifest will.”

In your quiet time with God today, meditate on that statement. Begin to thank and praise the Lord for His goodness and His ability to work all things together for our good, according to His purposes and promises.

Have faith in God!

Who We Are In Jesus – Calvary Temple VA

Who are we in this world? The Bible gives us quite a bit of insight into who we are as fallen creatures, sons and daughters of Adam. Yet the Word of God also tells us who we have become as sons and daughters of the Second Adam.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott stirs us up to see what has been accomplished in us through the redemption of Jesus. He also reminds us that these are not natural things, but are given to us through God’s Holy Word.

Do you see yourself today like the Israelites saw themselves in the wilderness? When you view your circumstances, do you see yourself as a grasshopper and your trials as giants?

The Bible declares that we are sons of God, we are His heirs, that we have been raised with Him to sit together with Him on His throne, and that we have been given all things that pertain to life and godliness.

Let us shake ourselves today and see the hope of our calling. Let us meditate on the Word of God and remember who we have become in Jesus. Let us walk in the Spirit of God and become as Joshua and Caleb, believing that if God is for us, none can stand against us.

Let us ask the Lord to help us to change how we see ourselves.

Satan Comes Immediately – Calvary Temple VA

One of the things that the Lord Jesus has invested in His Church is the ability to effectually make war in the heavenly realm, to see captives set free, and to see His Kingdom displayed in power.

The average Spirit-filled believer doesn’t spend time each day preparing to be used mightily of God. By His grace, the Lord brings a stirring into our hearts, sometimes through our time spent in His Word, sometimes through the teaching of our pastors, and sometimes when we are in the Lord’s presence. We awaken to His desires, we see afresh the power that is available to us, or we are touched deeply for the lives of people we know who are not born again.

It is during these times that we feel stirred to action. God’s promises are alive in us again, our hope is renewed, and we are ready to go forth in His Name.

Sadly, there are many times when this stirring doesn’t last very long. The enemy comes immediately to try to bring distractions or discouragements. If we give in to him in these times, we will remain weak and impotent, unable to effect that which God purposes for us.

We believe that this Sword of the Spirit 180 video will encourage you to action. Pastor Scott reminds us of the greatness of our God. He points us back to the Word of God and the promises that will strengthen us and encourage our faith.

It is the Lord’s will that we go forth in the power of His Holy Spirit. After watching this video clip, ask the Lord to ignite His flame within you. Go forth and conquer for Him, in the mighty Name of Jesus!

Pastor Star R. Scott – Powerful Witnesses – Calvary Temple VA

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott begins with a very provoking question – “When we are out sharing with people the resurrection of Jesus, are we also providing resurrection power in evidence?”

Wow! That really goes to the heart of the gospel. As the Apostle Paul shared, his gospel was not just in word, but was also in demonstration. In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised that we would be endued with power from the Holy Spirit through His baptism. He told the disciples that this power would enable them to be witnesses unto Him.

How confident are we in the power of the Holy Spirit within us? Do we possess Him in doctrine only? Do we believe that He will express the resurrected Jesus through us?

For many years, Pentecostal believers have had the baptism with the Holy Spirit as a great part of their identity. We truly believe in this “subsequent grace” being available to all believers. However, do we let Him work through us? Do we trust that He will empower us daily to walk in lives of holiness and power?

Let us take stock of what we believe, and also of what we live. Trust the Lord today to fill you once again. Believe that He will empower you for His work and for His glory.

“Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…”
