Father Snatches You Out of Trials – Calvary Temple VA

Many people when facing great trials and adverse circumstances cry out, “Where is God?” In our hopelessness, we forget the nearness and the faithfulness of God.

As you watch this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, remember that our Lord wants us to dwell in the shadow of His wings and take refuge in His Name (a strong tower). Pastor Scott reminds us of God’s knowledge of our suffering. Instead of wanting to be removed out of adversity, let us seek to ride through our trials with Him in our boat, fully at peace.

Because we live in this world and “see through a glass darkly”, we often forget that our tests and trials have a purpose far beyond what we can see or imagine. However, we should quickly remember that our Lord is a “present help in time of trouble.” He longs to walk with us in every valley of the shadow of death and show Himself to be our comfort.

After you watch this video, turn to Psalm 91 and read the passages that Pastor Scott quoted. Immerse yourself in God’s Word. Wait in His presence. Then shout for joy, knowing that He will see you through your trial!

The Shadow of the Almighty – Calvary Temple VA

We live in a world that is plagued by sin, disease, violence, and sorrow. The perfect world that God created has been perverted and twisted because of Adam’s sin.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott shares with us that though we war and struggle with circumstances, God is greater than all of our needs.

The Bible is full of Scriptures that tell of the Lord’s protection and safety in difficult times. “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress…” “The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe…”

Where do you turn in times of difficulty? When you stumble and sin, whom do you call? When your child is sick or there is no food for them, where do you place your trust?

Do we believe that we are in the hands of God? Do we believe that His ways are higher than ours? Let us learn today to trust Him. Let us learn to abide in Him, and in the shadow of His wings.

Live in the Secret Place – Calvary Temple VA

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott expounds on the verse, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

Do you long for that secret place in the presence of the Lord? I’m sure that many of us have visited that place at least once, during prayer, worship, or in God’s Word. It should be our goal and aspiration to not just visit, but to remain there, to find our dwelling in God.

Pastor Scott reminds us that dwelling in God’s presence needs to include quietness. It includes waiting on the Lord and listening for His voice. It is in quietness that we will be assured of His love and care for our lives.

As you watch this clip, ask the Lord to draw you to Himself. Ask Him to place in you a greater desire for Him. Find His presence. Go there often. Find a dwelling place there.

Exalt His Name Together – Calvary Temple VA

What should we do when circumstances are completely against us and are out of control? “Bless the Lord at all times.”

What should we do when it seems that we are stagnant or dry in our Christian walk? “Bless the Lord at all times.”

Because God is worthy, because He is good, because He is in control of our lives, and because He loves us, we should bless Him always. We should magnify His Name, we should lift up our voices to Him in thanksgiving and honor.

But how can I do that? Everything is stacked up against me, and I am at the lowest point in my whole Christian life. I war with trials without and temptations within. How can I bless the Lord?

We can bless the Lord by faith. We can lift him up, because He is greater than any trial. He is in full control of our lives, and compared to eternity these are but light afflictions.

Don’t lose sight of eternity in your trials. Remember that heaven is our home, Jesus is our reward, and that we will see Him soon if we endure to the end. Remember that He redeemed our lives from destruction.

Take your eyes off of yourself and your momentary trials. Lift your eyes toward the heavens and bless the Lord!

What Squeezes Out of You? – Calvary Temple VA

We often times don’t know who we really are until we encounter adversity. Trials, tribulations, and persecutions show who we are, they show what is inside of us.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott calls us to remember God’s work in us.

We will all fail at some point. We will all go through trials that will cause us to despair. It is in these times that we should look up and thank God for His goodness. We should thank God that the work of redemption has been finished in Jesus. We should make our boast in Him.

It is easy for us to think that the purpose of trials is the enemy’s way to cause us to stumble. Though that is the intention of the devil, God wants to use these tests to bring us closer to Himself. He wants us to bless Him in all things and for all things.

Let us look at our trials and our failures in a different light today. Believe that these tests are God’s way of building a greater dependency on Him. He wants to use these things to cause us to run into His arms. He has loved us from the foundation of the world.

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

It Doesn’t End Here – Calvary Temple VA

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott teaches on the subject of sanctification. He reminds us that our life on earth is not all there is to our existence. God is working in us by sanctification, so that one day we will experience glorification.

Though the world we live in can vex us, can discourage us, and can entice us, we have a hope – our hope is in Jesus and in His finished work on Calvary.

Pastor Scott also reminds us that our salvation is of God. Jesus in the Author of our salvation, and He is the Finisher. Today, God sees us righteous in Christ Jesus.

Pastor Scott takes us back to the cross, where Jesus was not only a sinless sacrifice for us, but that He also took our sin upon Himself. He became sin for us, that we may become the righteousness of God in Him.

Rejoice as you watch this video clip. The wars of this life will soon be over. We will be in the Lord’s presence forever, having received the end of our salvation!

Our Sin is Behind His Back – Calvary Temple VA

Oh, the incredible mercy of God!

We were born into sin. As we grew, we chose to sin. Even as believers, there are times when we give place to sin. We deserve judgment, but God has extended His mercy to us.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott reminds us how merciful God is toward us in the removing our sin. He reads from Psalm 103 and Isaiah 38 as he speaks of the vastness of God’s forgiveness.

The more we meditate on the longsuffering of God, the more we will appreciate the removal of our sins. What a great truth to know the our sins are separated from us as far as the east is from the west.

Embrace the love of God today. Whenever you feel condemned, remind yourself that God has placed your sins behind His back.

Oh, the incredible love of God!

Accepted in the Beloved – Calvary Temple VA

The Blood of Jesus. We sing about the blood of Christ. In communion, we partake of that blood. In old-time Pentecostal circles we would “plead the blood.”

In many of our lives, we take the blood of Jesus for granted. It has almost become common to us. I don’t think that we do it necessarily in a casual way, but we don’t spend much time meditating what that blood has afforded us and how great an access we have received to God through the blood of Jesus.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott reminds us of the blood of Jesus and how great an effect it works in our lives. We can do nothing in our own strength. It is through the blood of Jesus that we are saved, we are made righteous, and that we have the power to take up our cross and follow Him.

As you watch this video clip, meditate on the greatness of the sacrifice of Jesus. He shed His own sinless blood, that we may be accepted in Him. As you meditate, begin to worship Him. Maybe a good song to sing would be –

“There is power, power, wonder working power, in the blood of the Lamb…”

Redeemed: Bought With A Price – Calvary Temple VA

Redeemed.

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:20

The message of the gospel is simple – we were born into sin, because of the sin of the first man Adam. Mankind is held under the power of sin, totally incapable of becoming free. God loved mankind so much that He gave His Son Jesus to die on this earth, to pay the penalty for the sin of all mankind. When we believe this and submit to His Lordship, we become His child. Simple, yet rich and powerful.

God redeemed us back to Himself. We were once His treasured possession, until Adam rejected God. God so wanted us to be His that He redeemed us (bought us back).

When we become God’s child, we live our lives for His purposes. We live to bring Him glory – in our body (actions) and in our spirit (worship, submission).

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott lays out for us the simplicity of God’s work in us. Listen carefully. Remember how great a work God has done on our behalf. Live for Him, to glorify Him in all things.

Be Encouraged in What Jesus Did – Calvary Temple VA

How often do you get discouraged? Are you discouraged by the world around you? Maybe your discouragement is based on circumstances or on some trial that you are going through.

This earth can be a very discouraging place. Lawlessness is on the increase, disease and famine show no signs of ceasing, and the world is becoming a powder keg. There are “wars and rumors of wars…”

What do you try to do to encourage yourself? Do you watch television, play games, find a way to be entertained, or maybe turn to food for comfort?

Without Jesus, this world is hopeless and is doomed. The Bible tells us that the earth is reeling like a drunken man, and that it is waiting for its day of redemption.

As Christians, we can take great hope in believing that all things are under the control of God. He orders all things, and He is working everything for the good of His Kingdom and of His children.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video, Pastor Scott reminds us about the finished work of Jesus’ blood. Only through His work on the cross do we have any hope of strength for today. nor hope for what tomorrow holds. The return of Jesus to redeem us from this earth is truly our “blessed hope.”

Let your heart be encouraged by this video clip. Go to our website and listen to the teaching in its entirety. Allow the Lord to fill you with hope and with a confidence in His love for you. After you do this, drop us a note to share with us what the Lord has done in your life. Testify to His goodness.
