Pastor Star R. Scott – Cessation is Not Biblical – Calvary Temple VA

Sometimes we need to step back and ask ourselves – “Why do I believe what I believe?” Is what you believe about God and the Bible based on how you grew up? Is it based on what your parents believe? Maybe what you believe is based on your own experience?

If you are a Pentecostal believer, why do you believe in the “baptism”, the infilling with God’s Holy Spirit? Is it because the Scriptures have shown you? Is it just because of what you’ve heard a teacher say?

If you are a Cessationist, why do you believe that the supernatural working of the Holy Spirit through the lives of believers has ceased? Is it because you see it clearly in the Bible? Is it because of what you have heard Bible teachers declare?

We are a ministry that believes that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever as it concerns the Holy Spirit working in our lives. We believe that when Peter said the Promise of the Holy Spirit is even to “all that are afar off”, it includes the Church 2000 years later. We believe that the Scriptures are very clear in this. We believe that the Lord calls His Church to move in the same power that gave it birth on the Day of Pentecost.

In this Sword of the Spirit 180 video clip, Pastor Scott reminds us of the heritage of the Church and what is available to us today by God’s Holy Spirit.

You can find this teaching in its entirety, and other biblical resources at our Sword of the Spirit website. This article is a ministry of Calvary Temple of Sterling, VA. Pastor Star Scott is the senior pastor. We are a ministry that teaches and lives sound doctrine.
